Our First Trip to The Fair

Here we are at our first trip to the Chico fair! Naomi and I are infront of a car ride waiting for cute cousins Kurtis and Ellie to finish their drive around the umbrella!

We saw many animals in the FFA tents include some adorable goats!

Although Naomi slept through most of the fair, she did wake up to look at some cute bunnies.

I thought the mama and baby piggies were so adorable! The pigglets reminded me of my doggie Jo-Jo :)

While we were visiting Jeremy and Kim (who I frequently mix up and call, "keremy and Jim") "Penny" the pony was being shuttled back home from the Testicle Festival (please excuse the crude name if you have sensitive ears...I didn't make it up!) The nice owner let us ride her! I did take a ride, however (aka luckily) I did not get footage of that! Naomi wasn't sure of how she liked Penny, it was definitely a new experience for her! But she was the cutest pony and had the best personality!!

Naomi's getting some Chompers! These pictures were taken in the morning. The only way that I can get ready in the morning is to put Naomi in this walker. She LOVES it! So, that is why she looks like a rag-a-muffin, she just woke up. But isn't she the happiest rag-a-muffin!?!? She loves walking up and down our little hallway as I'm in our one bathroom trying to beautify what I got! She always makes me smile! But, I do have to say that I way need a new camera, after taking about 5 pictures it will only take blurry pictures thereafter... Lame. But at lease I still got these cute ones! She is such a ham! Now I know why we say, "Say Cheese!" Because Naomi is full of cheese-i-ness when I take her picture! But, like mother like daughter right? I was the same way!!! And in the second picture down, Naomi is trying to share her pacifier with you. She's very giving.

We all know how much Luke loves playing basketball! When he's not on a city league or playing church ball he likes to shoot around by himself (or with me when I'm willing...) at the Alamo building. I went into Feather River hospital at 8:00am August 12th to be induced. I had mild labor pains from 11:00am until 4:00pm. During this time I walked around the hospital room doing laps around Luke while we watched Lord of the Rings to pass the time. Then my water broke at 4:00pm! It felt like the baby just gave me a really big kick, and then warm water gushing down my leg. This is when I started getting REALLY uncomfortable and wanted to die from the labor pains. It really did help to have Luke there holding my hand the whole time and to hear encouragement from the nurses. The nurses knew that I wanted an epidural and they said that I just have to wait until my Dr. comes to give it the ok. Until then they gave me some pain killers through my IV. This did help me manage the pain, I couldn't really feel the constant smaller contractions, and I didn't feel like I was going to die during the big ones. Finally, the Dr. came and okayed my epidural at about 6:00pm and the anesthesiologist came an hour to an hour and a half later.He asked me when he came in the room, "are you sure you want an epidural?" And I said, "YES!" Luke was so amazed by my transformation once the drugs were in me! I was on cloud nine! I could feel the pressure of the contraction without all the pain! Hooray! Then my Dr. came in at 9:00pm to check how I was progressing, and she says to me, "Oh! Its time to push!" I was so excited. This was the biggest part of labor that I was dreading, but now that I had the wonderful drugs in me, I had no fear! My Dr. said it was one of the most pleasant deliveries she's ever done! We were talking and joking in between pushes. I only had to push for about 30 mins and then baby Naomi was born August 12, 2009 at 9:37pm. She weighed 8lbs 2 oz and was 19 & 3/4 inches long. She is such an amazingly wonderful baby! She just eats, poops and sleeps! I LOVE being a mom to her and taking care of her. When she's not eating, pooping or sleeping, she is so alert and is interested in whats going on around her! Our dog Rocky is sooooo curious about her, but is very respectful to me when I tell him to butt out! Our other dog, Josie, doesn't really care too much and would rather eat her bone. And, that's fine by me! We were so nervous yesterday when we finally were able to go home. We started thinking about how helpful all of the nurses were in answering our 2 million questions and how we're kinda on our own while at home. But she is such an easy going baby and sleeps so well. So far, I don't want to jinx it, she only cries when she needs something and I'm loving learning her cries so I can know what she needs. We feel so blessed to have such a wonderful addition to the family and we are excited to start this new chapter in our lives! And we just want to give a big thank you to our family who has been so loving and thoughtful to us!

Big News and Bitty Booties

So, I'm going to get induced early tomorrow morning! We are so excited! We are trying to get all the little random things ready tonight, like taking out the trash and just making sure the house is all picked up! Another little thing I did today was make another set of Bitty Booties! These are so fast and simple to make, I love it! I hope they fit the baby alright and that she'll love shoes. What am I talking about, she's my daughter... of course she will love shoes!!!

Here are some simple "Bitty Booties" that I made today. I got the pattern to make them from a really cute crafting blog called, hellomynameisheather.com. I wanted to practice making the booties with left over felt that I had before I went and spent money on ribbons and other embellishments to make some really cute ones!!! I'm excited to make some cheap bitty booties for my baby (that will hopefully come soon...) 'cuz you know my baby has to have cute shoes!

Josie these last couple of days has been really, really clingy to me. I'm wondering if she is sensing that there is a baby coming soon and so she's getting all the attention she can get while she still can! There is never a moment where she is not sitting on my lap, or snuggling close to me. I find this funny because Rocky is usually the one who wants to be close to me, and she usually prefers to be close to Luke! Last night when I went to sit down on the couch, she came over to me and nuzzled her way under my dress and laid on my chest! I laughed so hard and made Luke take a picture of it. Luke complained and said, "No more pictures of the dogs! That's all we have pictures of on the camera!" I assured him that will change as soon as the baby is born. Its even more funny because as my belly gets bigger and bigger, there is less and less room for her to sit on my lap! So, in this picture I look like a huge fatty, but its just because I have a baby in the belly and a doggy on the lap! Even now as I type this blog entry, Josie is sitting on what is left of my lap. I love the time I spend cuddling with my dogs though! They will always be my little puppies!

After watching several birth videos, I told Luke to, "Take it back!!". I'm scared about the pain! I'm scared about the epidural, and I'm scared about the tearing/ episiotomy pain. I know that its kinda gross to talk about for some people, but I'm freakin' out, and I need some experienced mamas in birthing babies to tell me its going to be ok! Or, at least tell me the truth...

Luke felt the baby kick for the first time! It was exciting for us! We were sitting on the couch watching TV and all of a sudden, the baby started kicking me really hard for a while and Luke was able to feel the baby kick! We are surprized that baby girl watts is kicking so hard this early, but I guess that its kinda normal. Anyway, just had to share, it was exciting!

Oh my gosh! I just about peed my pants with laughter when I walked into the spare room and saw this! Josie apparently found the bag of chips I was eating, and got her head stuck in the bag!! What a silly pooch! Every time she would breath, the bag would move in and out. So, I had to take a picture. After I removed the bag from her head ( I don't know how she got it all the way on her head, it was on there so tight!) her head smelled like Doritos! Poor little puppy was traumatized after the whole ordeal was over, and she went to sleep on my lap. The scary experience must have taken a lot out of her!

Valentines Day!

For Valentines day I decided that I would surprise Luke! I made him a heart shaped cake. It was his favorite kind of cake, yellow cake with chocolate frosting. In between each layer (there were three), I used cream cheese frosting! It was a delicious cake! We had fun on valentines day pigging out eating the cake all weekend long! This valentines we had fun thinking about our future family! We thought a lot about how we will create traditions to show our love on valentines with our kids. We cant wait for our new little baby to be here in July or August! Its so much fun being married to each other.
We've been married for about 2-1/2 years now, and its so fun being in this stage of
our lives.

The second Valentine surprise I gave Luke on the 14th was that, before he woke up, I wrote cute messages to him on all of the mirrors in our house with lipstick. It was fun to see him wake up in the morning and find each message! I'm looking forward to many more Valentines days with Luke!!

Random Update about Luke

It's been a while since we've made a post so I thought that I would share what Luke has been up to lately...so here's what Luke is up to!

CHP update: Last August Luke was told after not passing the eye exam portion of the test, if he were to get contact lenses, that he would have to wait a year before he could apply again, but if he were to get lasik surgery that he could apply right away after healing (presumably 3 months). After healing from the lasik surgery, Luke had it confirmed to him via email from the CHP recruiters that they now have a new director of the CHP academy. And, the rules have been changed about when he can apply again. Apparently now you have to wait a year regardless if you have had lasik surgery or contact lenses. So much for trying to speed the process along! So, Luke will reapply this August. Lucky for me he will be here when we have the baby! I wont have to worry about him being in the academy or something. We both feel that even though this may be frustrating to him, that it is all happening for a reason. We are happy that he will be able to (hopefully) get into the academy when the timing is right for our family.

Personal life update: I wanted to share this funny story about what has recently happened to Luke. So, Luke tries to stay very active, he plays on the church basketball team, and on a card league basketball team (his team is called the "Stripling Warriors"). Along with playing on these teams and going to basketball practice twice a week he has taken two weight lifting classes this semester... Lets just say that maybe he is exerting himself a little too much this past week. His arm, chest and tummy muscles were so sore, he couldn't lift his arms above his head! I called him "Barbie arms" because he couldn't even straighten his arms all the way! He was just walking around with his arms at 90 degree angles. Haha! Anyway, I'm excited to have a buff husband...eventually, even if right now he can't even lift his arm to put it around me!

PS- Luke's shirt in this picture....he tried to cut off the sleeves so that he could wear it as a work out shirt. But, he didn't take into account that it was a baseball tee. He just cut off the colored sleeves all the way up to the neck line! Luke is so funny! He's always making me laugh!

We found out last night that I'm pregnant! We couldn't be more excited! We've been thinking about how much our lives are going to change, and that we need to get a better vacuum!
I kind of had a feeling that I was pregnant all month! We finally went to Walgreen's and bought the pee stick! Turned out to be positive, so I grabbed the camera and said, "Luke! We have to take pictures now!"
Luke was kind of surprised that I wanted to take pictures of us with the pregnancy test. But he was in such a good mood that he didn't even bother to argue!

I've now posted one of those baby things that tell you how far along you are, and what the baby looks like. Right now the baby looks like a weird iguana or something!

Its ok, it will get cuter. I'm 36 days along, I'm feeling kinda nauseous. Nothing sounds good to eat and I can smell too much, and it makes things unappetizing.
We're hoping for a boy. Luke of course wants a little one to rough house with, and I've always wanted there to be a big brother to take care of the little girls we'll probably have. Either way, we'll be happy. It's pretty soon in the pregnancy, we hope and pray all goes well! But we're just too excited to keep it to ourselves!

Luke was complaining about how we had our wedding pictures up on our blog. He said, "it was two years ago! It's old news." So, we went to Bidwell Park today to take some new pictures. It was just him and me, so we took a camera and the tri-pod. I was the one positioning the camera while Mr. Grumpy pants waited for me to get the camera set up in the right spot. After a while, he got silly and I took these pictures of him. We'll call them, "the bloopers". He cracks me up. Always trying to be the male model he was born to be.

So, I was looking at some of my old pictures that I have of Luke and me before we were dating and were just friends. I came across Melissa Passantino and my themed birthday party we had for our 19Th birthday. Our theme of Course was "White Trash Birthday Bash!!!!" I remember we made really funny party invitations that were just crumpled up pieces of paper with a picture of a hillbilly. The hillbilly had a word bubble that told everyone to come to the party. At the party we had name tags that people would wear so they would have "white trash" names. Mine was Aggie-May. Luke's name was Billy-Bob (classic). We also had different games that we played including, "who's knocked up?"- a pregnancy test game, color that velvet NASCAR poster, And of course trashcan basketball. Then after all of the games we ate a birthday cake made of Twinkies. When our bellies were nice and full, we went out on the town to play a game of cops and robbers in a trailer park. We felt that it was only fitting for a white trash birthday bash to end with someone going to jail.

So, here is Melissa and me posing in our white trash outfits. We told everyone since it was a themed party, that everyone had to dress up. Melissa and I went shopping at one of the local thrift stores where we purchased our lovely attire. I opted for a pink and black lacy tank top covered with a leopard print sweater. Now, you cant see my pants, but let me assure you, they were AMAZING! They were of course tight denim stretch jeans that had slits on the outsides of the leg. Then those slits were laced up (like shoe laces) with leather laces! YES! I wore a pare of plastic white and blue Velcro platforms that Uncle Boyd bought from payless for 3.00. He bought these as a joke for me for my birthday one year. I held on to them because I knew that I would be able to wear them as a joke for something. I'm so glad that I kept them because they were perfect! I chose to style my hair after Peg Bundy. I didn't have a picture of Luke, but I just blew up the picture that I had of him in the group. Luke came with his group of family and friends that he's been friends with forever. While we were friends and would always hang out, our group dubbed them "The Boys". The boys were so fun and came dressed up too. We were so excited that they actually dressed up (We didn't think that they were going to)! So when Luke came in a jacket-vest without a shirt on underneath, I laughed so hard! I have no idea what he's holding up in this picture. But he is doing one of his famous "Luke faces".

Now here's a picture of me and Chad Waggstaff that I just had to put in here!! His white trash name was Peety Jr. Chad slicked back his hair and he had cheese wiz all over his wife beater (how absolutely white trash). We of course we had cheese wiz at our party, and only Chad would have a cheese wiz fight with someone. This was such a totally fun party and a silly night. I wish that we still had fun themed parties like this!! I might have to start a new tradition and get these themed parties going again!!

1. I read the entire twilight series in 1 week (including midnight sun). I have a huge crush on Edward Cullen (Luke knows). And I used to Hate Jacob Black. I think that I got a little too into the series...

2. I get really grumpy when I'm hungry.

3. I play sims 2 a lot. I'm Waitng for sims 3 to come out this spring!

4. I'm a primary teacher and when the kids do weird things (because you know kids do weird things) I just straight up say to them, "You're weird". Haha! I like to laugh at them a lot. I think that kids are nerds.

5. I'm obsessed with picking at Luke's back...gross. He hates it.

6. I carry/hold my dog Josie in my arms like she's a baby. She likes it.

Outlaws Baseball Game

We had a fun time with the fam at an Outlaws game. Luke's parents won the raffle and so we got to sit on the couches by the team's dugout! Come to think of it, I don't know how much of a treat it was...those couches must be nasty! Haha, at least they were comfortable.
I accedently took this video sideways on my phone, and I don't know how to flip it. But its a cute video of Rylee dancing the Chicken Dance followed by the YMCA. She's so hilarious!

Are anyone else's dogs as weird as mine?

Here's a really weird/funny/annoying thing that Rocky does. He gets OBSESSIVE over the bathtub (PS- I've tried to clean it with all my might...its just old and stained) Josie taught him to drink out of the bathtub. Now he will just stand in there until I make him get out, because he's a weirdo. Now, because I wont turn on the water for him, he's started sticking his nose down the drain and breathing into it. Hahaha, it makes this loud noise, but I laugh every time I hear him doing it.

Now I just try and keep the bathroom shut at all times. Their water bowls are always full, I don't know why they like to drink out of the tub! Funny dogs!

Josie always seems to eat the big bones, while Rocky prefers the small bones. Josie thought that this was a particularly good bone, so she was trying to find a good hiding spot for it, so that Rocky wouldn't find it. We had a good laugh watching her trying to carry around the bone and trying to hide it.

But, then she changed her mind. All the hours of gnawing on the bone, she's barely nibbled off one corner of it.

Luke's PRK (Lasik) surgery is on Monday!

Luke's getting PRK surgery which apparently is more painful than lasik. I guess what the difference is, is that with lasik, They flap over so many microns of your eye and then go to work on it with a laser. Then, after they've worked on your eye, they flap the top layer of your eye back over and let it heal. They say that you notice the benefits of the surgery almost right away. BUT, Luke's getting PRK. He'll have the same end results as lasik, but more pain along the way. Poor, poor Lukey. His procedure is different because the layer of microns that he has is too thin to proceed with the lasik. So, what the PRK is all about is completely removing the layer of 50 microns. Then working on his eye with the laser. After they laser his eyeballs, they put a protective contact lens on. They say he's going to want to sleep, or just keep his eyes shut for the first 36 hours because it will just feel like his eyes will have sand in them. Hooray. So, Pray for little Lukey, that he will not hurt too bad. And pray for me that I can take care of the big baby. The Doctors also said that his eyes will be irritated 5-7 days. We're going to have him stay at his parent's house for those 5-7 days so that we can be sure that he doesn't get any doggie hairs in his eye during this critical time. A side story to Luke's surgery, Luke's mom is helping us by paying for the surgery up front, and then we will pay her back later. When she went in to pay for the surgery they told us that half of the balance was paid by someone who wanted to stay anonymous. So, thank you to this mysterious person! We really appreciate the help...*cough*Grandma Young...*cough*. That's who we think it is anyway. But, if it was someone else, thank you too. But as soon as Luke is recovered (probably in a month) he's going to retake the tests!! Yahoo! Now he's sure to pass!! But, if he doesn't pass the CHP tests, we'll take it as a sign. Haha, We love our Lukey!

New Sewing Bodice!

Last year I really started getting into sewing! I recently ordered a bodice so that I could really tailor the peices that I make for me. This is one dress that I have made and me posing with it. I really like this dress, and I really wear it! Jo-Jo felt left out while I was taking the picture, so she was trying to get into the background. Haha, she's a funny dog. Luke supports my sewing habbit and likes the things that I make. He's a real keeper!

He probably thinks that I wont use the picture because he is making a silly face. So, in spite of him I still use the pictures.
