I'm getting scared!!!

After watching several birth videos, I told Luke to, "Take it back!!". I'm scared about the pain! I'm scared about the epidural, and I'm scared about the tearing/ episiotomy pain. I know that its kinda gross to talk about for some people, but I'm freakin' out, and I need some experienced mamas in birthing babies to tell me its going to be ok! Or, at least tell me the truth...

I'm scared!

I'm always honest...to a fault. You asked, so here it is. GET AN EPIDURAL! I've done it without, for the 1st. Not only did I think I might die, I was more hoping I would. Now, in fairness, I lost control of myself early on and once you do that you never get control back. So, no matter what, keep breathing & stay calm. My 2nd 2 babies, I got smart...and had the epidural. Both were amazingly wonderful. The most relaxed I've been since childhood. I didn't tear with any of them...I was lucky. Hope you will be to!! It will be fine. Just remember that everyone is different so don't put too much weight on the videos or the scary stories. You'll have a great story of your own either way. Hugs!!

I know it can be scary Meghan! But you'll have Luke there and that seriously makes a huge difference! Don't be afraid to get an epidural as early as you want it...you just have to insist because some nurses think you should go natural...especially in hippy Chico and Paradise...also ask the doctor beforehand if he's going to numb you down there before you push the baby all the way out (they'll tell you the Epidural will numb you down there but for me it didn't)...with Ellie they did and pushing the baby out was a lot of pressure but didn't hurt that bad but with Hannah they didn't numb me and woweee that hurt like a mutha! It actually does help to like watch a movie or listen to music to get your mind off of it. You'll do fine Megs and you'll feel like superwoman after...like you can do anything after that! (you'll also be extremely exhausted!)

also...by the time you are ready to deliver you will be so uncomfortable that you will be ready to get that baby out! (it's a good motivator)

hey!! I am so excited for you by the way!! Little linkin will have someone his age to play with when we come to visit!! But for me I hated the epidural!!! And I think that it is because I had a allergic reaction to it and I itched all over and my face swelled. And also my doctor took advantage of me not feeling anything a prolonged linkins birth. Linkin had meconium (which is when there is stress on the baby so they have a bowl movement) which sounds super gross but I guess it is pretty common and usually is not bad for the baby, but I was at a 10 for 2 hours and sense it was so long the meconium burnt linkins lungs and they thought that his lungs were going to collapse, and so he had to be in icu for 2 days before they would let us take him home. BUT that was an experience that I dont think that will happend if you take control of what you want I was relying on what the doctors told me. And I wish that I would have just done what I was thinking and I think that everything would have turned out differently!! Call me so that we can talk!! love ya!!
